What does 24 hours in Paris with Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch entail? Turns out, celebrities are just like us: They want to eat all the croissants and practice their French. Long sleeve dress red Vogue recently spent the day with Petsch, who visited the City of Light last week to attend Dior’s spring 2022 couture show. The agenda was full of good fashion, great shopping, and even better baked goods.
Petsch’s day began with an 8 a.m. call time, when she kicked off her busy day with a café au lait—with almond milk!—and a vegan croissant. “I feel so annoying being an American in Paris and being like, ‘I don’t actually eat butter,’ ” says Petsch, who is vegan. “I think they’re sad for me.” She made up for it, though, by doing her best to order it en français, s’il vous plait!
After getting caffeinated, she and her fashion-forward outfit—consisting of a Marine Serre bodysuit, a BOYY handbag, and an oversized brown coat—sauntered over to the Librairie des Abbesses for some book shopping. “Every time I travel, I get a book from that place, bring it back, and put it in my library,” she says. Perusing some titles—like a French edition of Patti Smith’s Just Kids, one of Petsch’s favorites—she landed on a coffee table book for her house, titled Cinema et Peinture, and a French book of Asterix cartoons (a childhood favorite of hers). For glam, “I asked for clean, chic, simple [makeup,]” says the actor. “I don’t usually say any of those words about my makeup, I like it to be fun, but since the outfit is very loud and bright and fun, it’s nice to tailor the makeup to celebrate the outfit.” She then slipped into her bright green, printed two-piece jacket and mini skirt. “No coat—I’m going to brave the Paris cold for the outfit,” she quips.
After taking in the new collection and watching designer Maria Grazia Chiuri take her bow, Petsch did a quick change and took some time to walk Paris’s Seine river. For dinner, she had a delicious vegan burger and fries, then had a cup of tea to end the night. “I needed a moment of relaxation,” she says sipping her tea. “It’s been a hectic day.” To bid Vogue “adieu,” she even brought on the sentimental (fake) tears. Red dresses for formal “It’s been a beautiful 24 hours with you,” says Petsch with watery eyes, “and I’ll never forget them.”
